Hello, I’m Jennie

I’m a Creative Director & Professional Photographer who creates photos that honour and embrace the unique magic in family relationships.  My passion for storytelling, art & design began early and influenced all of my studies and experience. My outlet is in masterful photography, using these skills as the perfect medium to capture portraits that reflect who you really are.

I attended Fanshawe College, where I graduated in 2010 from the Photography Program in London, Ontario. I’ve spent my entire career in the city of Calgary, getting to know every gorgeous nook to use for my photos.

We dig deep on these shoots! When someone lets you in to see their sacred story of belonging and deep love, then trusts you to tell it, that’s where we create photos that reflect the beauty in your life back to you.

After over a decade of experience, I live for creating imagery that makes you catch your breath, that’s filled with emotion and that tells a story.  You crave sincere and meaningful photos of your family, it’s why you found me. I see the poetry in your everyday, the tenderness in your bond, the laughter in the imperfection. I capture it all.

Hi, I’m sarah

As a born-and-raised Calgarian, I am thrilled to continue my photography career here capturing the diverse families living amongst our thriving city. 

It has been apparent to me, since I was a little child, that there is magic and wonder constantly surrounding us. The moment I got my first digital camera, I set out to capture that magic.

With a business degree in Entrepreneurship and over a decade of experience working with families and photographing them, I know the perfect moments to click the button and capture the magic you share within your own family. At the peak of a laugh, the tightest squeeze of a hug or the tender kiss of a cheek, I will be there to document life’s sweetest moments shared by the ones most important to you. 

As a mother myself, I understand how quickly our family and children grow and how important it is to document every stage of their ever changing lives.  Everyday has simple, yet special moments that have the potential to become permanent memories.  Let me help you hang on to those memories by capturing those special moments, forever.

what does plaited mean?

Plaited means, "Interwoven strands that create an intricate pattern, that form something both strong and beautiful."

We are not only weaving together this team to create something both strong and beautiful, we are part of an entire generation that’s plaiting together the strands of our past to create a more purposeful present and future.

All of life and time is interwoven with one another, we see it all around us in our relationships with ourselves and others, and in our relationship with the earth and nature that we are a part of.

Our stories are what so easily connect us to the world around us.  It's where we find empathy, compassion and connection to people we would never have had the chance to get to know otherwise.

Stories have an incredible power to cut through the noise to find where our hearts connect, where we have felt the same joy and sorrow, triumph and pain.

We see ourselves as expert story weavers, creating portraits that plait together the strands of our lives, our loves, our families, and our passions. Plaited will capture and represent the depth of your story and connections through profound photos.

The story behind our Logo

What does our logo represent?

We wanted to use an oak tree because it represents wisdom, strength, and durability.  It's also the tree that is pictured in the symbolic, Celtic Tree of Life.

The Tree of Life is a recurring symbol throughout our heritage, one that can be found in ancient Gaelic/Celtic legends. In Norse mythology it represents balance and harmony in all worlds, the interconnectedness between all things.

The branches reach out to represent learning and knowledge, the trunk symbolizes strength and unity, it's leaves represent renewed growth and the deep roots represent our heritage.  The tree is interwoven with all of the aspects of our stories, and the photographs we produce at Plaited aim to portray the entirety of your tree.
